Flashback Effects

After looking at some flashback scenes i have noticed aspects which are commonly used. For example the use of lighting is used as a way of emphasising that it is a flashback or memories. When having a flashback to a victim or if they are dying the lighting is blue and makes it look very cold.

 There is also the use of blurs and cross fades when using a montage of different shots. The use of blurs enables the audience to focus on the main feature of the shot. For exmaple the shot of this deer is surrounded by a blur which makes the audience focus on the acton of the deer.

Possible Soundtrack

This is another idea for the music I may use on the flashback sequence. This is an emotional score and has the mix of piano and strings. As this music isn't very long this may be ideal for the use I want but I am still going to look for more music I may use.

Dilemma?

A dilemma I have with the scene I am filming is the moment to have the flashback shown. I am unsure whether to have it on the TV as they watch it together or whether to show it when one of the characters picks up an object form that day in which the memories are shown. As the sequence was filmed on the beach i decided to use shells as a connection to the memories and use them as the objects which remind the characters of the day they had. I am going to put an effect on the footage so that it looks like memories. This will be done whilst editing and I will add music to the background to make it more emotional. 

If I decided to have the flashback on the TV I would have to make the flashback I have edited onto a DVD and then show it on the TV. However if I decide to have the flashback when a character picks up an object this would be easier in order of filming and editing. I will have to change my storyboard and think more about the reactions of the characters and how i will end the scene.

Flashback Sequence

I have finally been able to film the flashbak sequence in which will show the friendship between the two characters. I filmed it on the beach as it is a very free environment with a lot of space which will show the relationship as they are best friends who will stick by each other even when they have space between them. It was a very sunny day which was perfect as the sun will create a more bright haze on the footage which will make it look angelic and fit well with the mood of the flashback.

When filming this sequence it is all handheld which makes it look more realisticand authentic in relation to the rest of the film. The use of handheld enabled me to have a range of shots like close ups and extreme close ups which are all going to fit in well with the rest of the sequence.  

Sixth Sense ending

I have looked at this scene as it is similiar to the way in which i want my character to realise she is dead. The use of the home video and memories is used as a more emotional scene and a way in which Anna remembers Malcolm.

No Reservation part 09

1:56 - 3:15 This is the sequence which shows footage being played on a TV which will resemble mine. This is an emotional scene as it has no dialogue but the sound from the footage and the non diegetic music which is very slow and emotional. I hope to have this effect on my audience with my sequence.
